How do I schedule DNA testing?
- Call the Carolina Center for Drug and DNA Testing at 919.965.8572 to discuss the appropriate DNA testing and whether you want results for legal or personal reasons.
- Schedule an appointment.
- Have a government-issued ID at the time of collection. Acceptable IDs are drivers license, birth certificate, social security card.
When are results available?
- Reports are typically available 48 hours after the lab has received and tested all the samples.
- RUSH testing with results reporting is available for an extra charge.
What is the cost and how do I pay for the test?
- Testing costs are competitive and, in most cases, lower than other testing labs. Rates are available upon request.
- Payment can be made by cash or money order.
- Payment plans are available, and the test can be performed after full payment has been received.
- RUSH testing with results reporting is an added charge.
- No collection fee is charged.
What about confidentiality?
- We provide a clean, secure, and confidential environment for testing and results reporting.
- Information will be released to the tested parties and their named representatives with written authorization.
Are reports admissible in court?
- Yes, if you request a legal DNA test. This is a notarized legal document that has a scientific description of the genetic patterns determined for each individual.
For paternity testing, does the child have to be a certain age to be tested and does the mother have to be tested?
- We test children of all ages (newborns and older).
- The mother does not have to be tested, but we recommend the mother being tested for a higher level of statistical certainty.
