How do I schedule DNA testing?

  • Call the Carolina Center for Drug and DNA Testing at 919.965.8572 to discuss the appropriate DNA testing and whether you want results for legal or personal reasons.
  • Schedule an appointment.
  • Have a government-issued ID at the time of collection. Acceptable IDs are drivers license, birth certificate, social security card.

When are results available?

  • Reports are typically available 48 hours after the lab has received and tested all the samples.
  • RUSH testing with results reporting is available for an extra charge.

What is the cost and how do I pay for the test?

  • Testing costs are competitive and, in most cases, lower than other testing labs. Rates are available upon request.
  • Payment can be made by cash or money order.
  • Payment plans are available, and the test can be performed after full payment has been received.
  • RUSH testing with results reporting is an added charge.
  • No collection fee is charged.

What about confidentiality?

  • We provide a clean, secure, and confidential environment for testing and results reporting.
  • Information will be released to the tested parties and their named representatives with written authorization.

Are reports admissible in court?

  • Yes, if you request a legal DNA test. This is a notarized legal document that has a scientific description of the genetic patterns determined for each individual.

For paternity testing, does the child have to be a certain age to be tested and does the mother have to be tested?

  • We test children of all ages (newborns and older).
  • The mother does not have to be tested, but we recommend the mother being tested for a higher level of statistical certainty.
